Latino Gamers rejoice Major Gaming Championships (not latino) and iNSPIRE! (latino si) have banded together to create the first and only, a latino focused gaming console tournament named "Latino Gamerz Match." These console gaming tournaments have ranged from Super Smash Brothers to Halo and EA's Fifa series and Madden. The tournaments became a hit on the PC front, with Quake 3, Call of Duty, and Counter Strike leading the way. Blake Pettirgrew (not latino) president of MJC reasons for the alternative organization, "The Hispanic gaming community purchases over $700 in gaming products each year, but don't have a gaming tournament targeted to them." Keep your gaming fingers rested, LGM will be touring the US cities Los Angeles, New York, Houston, Miami, and Dallas.
No word if non-latinos can participate....cause that would be unfair.

I've come across several statistics regarding minority gamers, and I do agree that latino gamers and black gamers contribute a lot of time and money to the video game industry. Yet, the video game culture is already big as it is, so why create other niches within this successful industry? Do you feel we're (I'm a latino) not being represented properly? Is there a feeling of not relating to the gaming industry because we don't see latinos in positions, like editors/writers for respectable publications, like EGM or Game Informer? I just don't really see the point in organizing a video game tournament specifically for latinos. I mean, the video game culture is already a group that's put together, so why segregate it by events like these? I just feel that when people claim that they are a gamer, they're accepted within the video game culture. Obviously there will be discussions and differences about which console is better or which RPG is the best ever, just to give you an example, but I believe that's as far as it goes.
Perhaps you can fill me in and tell me where you're coming from, because I'm quite interested, to be honest. So tell me what it means to be a 'latino gamer', and why should that label be created and used by video gamers who belong to the latino culture?
